This robot has a hefty cost, but it's great to keep up with the daily messes and dust. It features advanced programming for efficient obstacle avoidance and it is able to set up zones to vacuum or mop in different rooms.

In addition to letting you control the robot using a smartphone or remote and tablet, the iRobot Genius app makes it easy to set up the j7+, create an agenda, and fine-tune other settings. It will even guide new users through an onboarding process that will help the robot learn their home and plan the space it will clean.

The j7+ comes with a larger dust bin than many of the other best self-emptying robot vacuum for pet hair robot vacuums we've tested. It can hold more debris, but you'll still have to empty the bin every seven to eight months (or more often if have pet hair or any other large debris). iRobot sells filters and bags that can be replaced separately.

Another nice feature is the front camera on the j7+ that is claimed to aid the robot in recognizing dangers such as pet waste and power cords and stay clear of them. The T10 OMNI is great at cleaning pet hair. It was able remove the majority of the fur from my carpets after two cleaning cycles, and it was able to maneuver around furniture that was blocking its route.

The T10 Omni is a great option for anyone who wants a robot vacuum and mop that can empty it. The mop has the same power as the vacuums and it has a more attractive design than Roomba. Although it doesn't have an remote control, the T10's smart capabilities make up for this omission. It is easy to start or stop a cleansing cycle, schedule it, and change device settings with the app.

4. Shark ION XL

Shark's top-of-the-line self-emptying robotic vacuum, the ION XL is an excellent option for those looking for hands-off cleaning with the highest level of performance. The vacuum comes with a big bin that can store a month's worth of dirt. It can be set to empty the bin at the conclusion of each cleaning session to ensure long-term storage. The ION XL is one of the top robot vacuums that are available for carpets and hard floors, and it can also sweep and mop your floor. You can control the robot using an app or voice commands, and you can also create the map of your home to clean each room on demand. The robot is also able to navigate around furniture and traverse stairs and carpeted rooms with ease.

I tried the ION XL with our standard test for debris in a family space and kitchen with hardwood flooring and area rugs. It was excellent at cleaning up and removing debris, pet hair, and even some of the most stubborn carpet crumbs. It was also excellent in moving around my bar stool and didn't get in the way of them like the iRobot J7+ did during this test. The only issue is that the IONXL cannot detect cords, toys and shoes that are in its path, therefore you'll need to pre-clean your house before running this robot vacuum if you want it to avoid these items.

The ION XL robotic cleaner is not as intelligent as the iRobot j7+ but it's a good alternative if you don't want to spend over $500 on a robot. It's superior to the eufy RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It's easier to maintain and has lower monthly costs. It also does a better job in vacuuming floors that aren't clean and removing pet hair, but it can't do as well on low- or high-pile carpet.

It's not as robust as the Roborock S8, but it is still a solid alternative. The ION XL is a powerful machine with a huge capacity bin. It is controlled via an app or voice command and is easy to maintain. It also has affordable.
